Leads the creation and deployment of manufacturing and repair methods for aeroderivative gas turbine parts. Designs specialized tooling, enhances machining efficiency, and ensures adherence to quality standards in a technically complex setting.
Responsibilities
- Directs the development and execution of manufacturing and repair procedures for aeroderivative gas turbine components.
- Designs advanced tooling systems to support both new part production and component repair operations.
- Analyzes complex engineering data including blueprints, CAD models, material specifications, and process documents.
- Improves machining and production workflows to increase efficiency, reduce cycle times, and maintain high-quality output.
- Defines and upholds quality standards, conducts root cause analysis for defects, and ensures regulatory compliance.
- Produces detailed work instructions to guide operators and standardize inspection and repair protocols.
- Acts as the primary technical contact for resolving nonconformance reports and determining component disposition.
- Delivers technical presentations during engineering or program review meetings.
- Maintains accurate documentation in alignment with engineering policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with engineering and business teams to integrate repair limits and processes into shop and vendor manuals.
- Creates and implements new repair methodologies for Aero Gas Turbine components.
- Conducts design evaluations to validate repair limits and assess operational lifespan.
- Provides technical guidance on CAD models, engineering drawings, and component specifications.
- Supports qualification of repair processes and leads efforts to standardize and industrialize repair operations.
- Completes additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in a relevant technical area.
- Skilled in using SolidWorks, Mastercam, and other CAD/CAM software.
- Hands-on experience with industrial gas turbine components, particularly turbine blade grinding and repair techniques.
- Demonstrated background in inspection and quality assurance for machined and repaired parts.
- Familiarity with machining, heat treatment, and inspection processes for nickel-based superalloys.
- Proficient in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and experienced with project management tools like MS Project.
- Strong understanding of core mechanical engineering principles.
- Able to interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and material or process specifications.
- Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
- Demonstrates high integrity and professional conduct.
