Responsibilities
- Operate and manage web printing press systems to produce high-quality printed materials while maintaining product standards, supervising press crew members, performing equipment maintenance, and completing assigned operational tasks
- Set up, calibrate, and run various press types including Litho Press, In-line double web press, Harris M10, and mini web 6-color press to produce single, two, and multi-color prints with precise color matching, registration, and reproduction of solids, tints, lines, and halftones
- Analyze job specifications to determine proper press configuration based on imposition methods such as sheet-wise or work-and-turn layouts
- Complete all make-ready procedures including mounting plates or cylinders, inspecting for defects, verifying image placement, preparing blankets, and adjusting tension and registration settings
- Make color corrections and press adjustments before production to meet quality standards for color accuracy and consistency
- Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on press equipment, conduct minor repairs, and replace damaged or worn components as needed
- Carry out manufacturer-recommended preventive maintenance tasks on a regular basis
- Promote and uphold a safe, injury-free workplace by following and encouraging safety protocols
- Oversee all press operations and supervise crew members during shifts
- Ensure final printed products meet quality benchmarks for color, image clarity, postal requirements, and job specifications
- Decide which printed output meets acceptable standards for retention and use
- Produce sample prints that meet quality expectations before full production runs
- Maintain accurate records of time, materials used, impressions, waste, and press speeds
- Communicate clearly with other teams, departments, scheduling, prepress, and maintenance staff
- Coordinate the make-ready process by reviewing job details, planning setup steps, and delegating tasks to crew members
- Manage a preventive maintenance program for the press and use the 'Request For Action' system to report equipment issues
- Assist in training and mentoring other team members as assigned
- Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors
Compensation
$3.00 shift premium; $1000 sign-on bonus paid in monthly installments upon meeting job requirements
