Role Overview
We're seeking a Web Developer to take technical ownership of our primary website and supporting digital properties. You'll be responsible for shaping the architecture, functionality, and performance of a modern WordPress-based ecosystem, ensuring it remains secure, fast, and aligned with evolving business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain custom WordPress themes, templates, and component systems to support structured, reusable content
- Develop both front-end interfaces and back-end logic using PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS
- Optimize site performance, including Core Web Vitals, caching strategies, and loading efficiency
- Evaluate and integrate plugins, build custom solutions when necessary, and manage third-party integrations
- Ensure ongoing security, apply updates and patches, and manage version control workflows
- Define information architecture, user flows, and layout frameworks that meet user needs and business objectives
- Build responsive, accessible interfaces that reflect brand standards across all devices
- Translate design assets into functional, production-ready code within the CMS environment
- Implement and maintain technical SEO practices, including URL structures, metadata, schema markup, redirects, and indexing rules
- Set up and manage Google Tag Manager, analytics tracking, event triggers, and integrations with external systems
- Conduct regular audits to improve search visibility, data accuracy, and system performance
- Collaborate with IT on hosting infrastructure, DNS, SSL certificates, and environment configurations
- Develop API connections, forms, and data integrations across platforms
- Provide clear technical guidance to Marketing, Creative, and U.S.-based teams
- Support long-term planning for future digital platforms and Website 2.0 initiatives
- Stay current with advancements in WordPress, PHP, JavaScript frameworks, SEO, and UX trends
- Propose improvements that enhance scalability, stability, and user experience
- Document systems, processes, and technical standards
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a full-stack or advanced WordPress developer working on complex, content-heavy websites
- Deep understanding of WordPress core, custom post types, taxonomies, and content modeling
- Strong coding skills in PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, CSS/SASS, and familiarity with modern front-end tools
- Hands-on experience with technical SEO implementation and analytics tracking setup
- Ability to design user-centered structures such as wireframes, sitemaps, and layout systems
- Experience with Google Tag Manager, APIs, and integrating third-party services
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments
- Confidence in making technical recommendations and leading development decisions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Git or similar version control systems
- Background managing hosting environments, DNS settings, and server configurations
- Familiarity with accessibility standards, including WCAG guidelines
- Prior work in healthcare, nonprofit, or mission-focused organizations
