About the Role
This position involves performing janitorial and utility duties at a remote northern camp, including cleaning, waste disposal, equipment upkeep, and supporting facility operations in a challenging Arctic environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of living quarters, washrooms, and common areas
- Dispose of waste and recyclables according to environmental guidelines
- Perform routine cleaning of kitchen and dining facilities
- Inspect and report maintenance issues in buildings or infrastructure
- Operate cleaning equipment and tools safely
- Restock supplies in washrooms and shared spaces
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in high-traffic areas
- Clean and sanitize showers and toilet facilities
- Assist with minor repairs and upkeep tasks as needed
- Monitor heating and lighting systems for functionality
- Follow health and safety protocols in extreme weather conditions
- Support winter site operations with snow removal or de-icing
- Adhere to environmental and waste management regulations
- Respond to service requests from camp residents
- Work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
- Use personal protective equipment as required
- Assist in emergency response situations when necessary
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures when applicable
- Communicate with supervisors about facility concerns
- Uphold hygiene standards in food service areas
- Assist with setting up temporary facilities
- Ensure compliance with site-specific safety training
- Perform tasks in confined or remote locations
- Support team efforts to maintain operational continuity
