About the Role

The Unit Coordinator plays a key administrative role in a specialized inpatient unit, providing front-line support by managing phone communications, coordinating patient documentation, and facilitating smooth interactions between clinical teams, patients, and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and direct incoming calls to appropriate staff members
  • Maintain accurate patient records and treatment logs
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate patient admissions and discharges
  • Order and manage office and clinical supplies
  • Assist with preparation of reports and clinical documentation
  • Serve as first point of contact for family inquiries
  • Support unit clerical functions including data entry and filing
  • Coordinate communication between nursing staff, physicians, and support services
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations
  • Assist in maintaining unit safety and organization
  • Track patient forms and consent documentation
  • Provide administrative support during clinical team meetings
  • Manage fax and email correspondence for the unit
  • Update patient status boards and tracking systems
  • Assist with onboarding new staff and volunteers
  • Maintain calendars for clinical team members
  • Support quality improvement initiatives through accurate recordkeeping
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Participate in training and departmental meetings
  • Respond to internal and external requests promptly and courteously
