Responsibilities
- Assesses vehicle condition through inspections and diagnostic evaluations to detect worn or faulty components.
- Ensures equipment readiness by performing scheduled maintenance, applying protective treatments against corrosion, and executing winterization steps.
- Repairs or replaces damaged or defective systems and parts, including powertrains, brakes, steering, hydraulics, fuel, emissions, electrical, and air conditioning systems.
- Conducts overhauls, disassembly, reassembly, and adjustments of major mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- Performs machine shop tasks such as alignments, bearing load settings, gear contact adjustments, and calibration of governors, clutches, and control linkages.
- Evaluates vehicle performance through test drives and fine-tunes systems and controls as needed.
- Meets federal and state compliance standards by testing engine emissions, safety features, and combustion controls.
- Maintains vehicle appearance through cleaning, washing, and painting procedures.
- Tracks service history by documenting repairs and maintenance activities in vehicle records.
- Ensures workshop tools and machinery remain functional by following operational guidelines, diagnosing failures, and scheduling repairs.
- Controls operational costs by leveraging warranty coverage and assessing cost-effective service and component solutions.
- Manages inventory by monitoring stock levels, placing supply orders, and confirming deliveries.
