Requirements
- Collaborate with the workforce management team to maintain compliance in all operational activities, including staffing plans and the safe, cost-efficient use of drivers and equipment.
- Oversee and manage dispatch and debrief procedures to consistently meet performance standards through clear communication and supervision.
- Support and supervise driver teams during operations to ensure full compliance with legal requirements and accurate recordkeeping.
- Monitor and manage driver performance to meet or exceed established KPIs and expectations.
- Champion health, safety, and employment policies across transport operations.
- Maintain up-to-date personnel records, including license verification, personal data, and training completion.
- Conduct site audits and partner with leadership to meet key performance indicators.
- Respond promptly to urgent operational inquiries to support daily workflow at customer locations.
- Engage with customers and site teams to resolve performance issues and address concerns in a timely way.
- Lead recruitment efforts for permanent and temporary staff to meet fluctuating business demands.
- Notify transport and safety teams of all incidents, including accidents, near misses, and hazardous events, and ensure proper reporting.
- Identify and escalate maintenance or repair issues at the site and within the depot.
- Ensure daily vehicle checks, inspections, and defect reporting processes are fully implemented.
- Manage vehicle and trailer maintenance schedules, including servicing, MOTs, VOR, weekly cab inspections, and documentation.
- Coordinate and attend disciplinary or investigation meetings as needed.
- Support the Transport Manager in depot improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence.
- Handle overtime coordination, driver expense processing, and resolution of payroll inquiries.
- Assist with administrative duties at the depot as required.
- Work jointly with the Transport Manager on driver hiring and onboarding processes.
- Ensure all driver training requirements are fulfilled, including inductions, refresher courses, and safety training.
- Lead problem-solving efforts for unexpected operational challenges and apply lessons learned to future planning.
- Develop positive, trust-based relationships with internal departments such as workforce management, fleet, HR, planning, and finance.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
