Matrix Design Group, LLC is hiring a Test and Validation Software Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to interpret product specifications and design requirements.
  • Design and establish a robust testing framework, defining key parameters based on product design inputs.
  • Deploy and manage the testing framework to monitor processes, record outcomes, and support troubleshooting efforts.
  • Construct test environments and detailed test cases for software and electrical systems.
  • Deliver actionable feedback on product performance and functionality.
  • Ensure all products and processes comply with applicable industry quality benchmarks.
  • Analyze test data to detect anomalies, identify root causes, and maintain issue tracking.
  • Develop automated testing infrastructure to support routine product evaluations.
  • Define comprehensive test scenarios, cases, and datasets to validate full product functionality.
  • Prioritize testing activities according to risk analysis and project impact.
  • Conduct functional, regression, performance, usability, compatibility, and security testing.
  • Execute test procedures and verify features against defined requirements.
  • Leverage automated testing tools to enhance test consistency and efficiency.
  • Log and manage defects thoroughly using designated tracking systems.
  • Create and sustain automated test scripts and frameworks to reduce manual effort.
  • Expand and refine the test automation suite as new features are introduced.
  • Partner with development teams to integrate continuous testing into CI pipelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for test plans, cases, results, and procedures.
  • Produce reports summarizing test progress, outcomes, and unresolved issues for stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with engineers, product managers, and other team members to align on project goals.
  • Engage in design reviews to provide early testing insights and flag potential issues.
  • Stay informed on advancements in software and hardware testing methodologies and technologies.
  • Propose process improvements to enhance testing effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate innovative and unconventional problem-solving abilities.

  • The position reports directly to the Manager of Testing and Validation.
  • Primary work occurs in a climate-controlled laboratory, with occasional testing in an industrial warehouse environment.
  • Frequent computer and test equipment use; requires sustained focus and may involve prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Potential exposure to moderate noise, moving machinery, and fluctuating temperatures in warehouse areas.
  • Must comply with all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in lab, warehouse, or customer locations.
  • May encounter electrical hazards and use hand tools, power supplies, and test fixtures; adherence to ESD, lockout/tagout, and safety practices is required.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites may be necessary, including entry into industrial facilities under site-specific safety rules.
  • Work hours generally follow standard business schedules, though occasional overtime or adjustments may be needed.
  • Employee may be required to stand, walk, stoop, or crouch periodically.
  • Ability to lift or move objects up to 50 pounds may be necessary.
