KIND is hiring a Temporary Deputy Director, Planning and Performance

About the Role

This role will lead the development and execution of planning and performance frameworks to enhance organizational effectiveness during a period of strategic growth and operational refinement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of strategic planning processes across departments
  • Develop performance metrics and dashboards to monitor organizational goals
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to align departmental objectives with strategic priorities
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of performance data
  • Facilitate cross-functional planning sessions and strategy workshops
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and accountability
  • Ensure consistency in planning methodologies and reporting standards
  • Support the integration of performance insights into decision-making
  • Manage the development of strategic documents and progress reports
  • Coordinate with finance and program teams to align planning cycles
  • Evaluate the impact of current initiatives on long-term goals
  • Drive continuous improvement in planning and evaluation systems
  • Provide guidance on data quality, interpretation, and visualization
  • Lead ad hoc strategic projects as needed
  • Ensure timely delivery of planning deliverables and performance reviews
  • Promote a culture of accountability and evidence-based management
  • Assist in preparing executive-level presentations on performance trends
  • Work closely with external consultants or partners when required
  • Maintain documentation of planning frameworks and performance models
  • Support onboarding and training for team members involved in planning processes
  • Monitor industry best practices in strategic performance management
  • Address gaps in planning capacity across teams
  • Ensure alignment with organizational values and mission
  • Manage consultants or vendors related to performance systems
  • Serve as a key point of contact for planning-related inquiries

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in public policy, business administration, or related discipline
  • Experience in nonprofit or advocacy settings
  • Background in monitoring and evaluation
  • Familiarity with logic models or theory of change frameworks
  • Knowledge of donor reporting requirements
  • Experience with enterprise planning systems
  • Proficiency in advanced data analysis tools

Compensation

Competitive salary commensurate with experience

Work Arrangement

Hybrid work model with both remote and office-based requirements

Part of the leadership team overseeing organizational strategy and performance improvement
