As a Technical Reporting Analyst, you will build and manage analytical tools that transform large-scale pharmacy claims data into actionable financial insights. Your work will center on developing robust reporting frameworks in Excel and SQL, leveraging Power Query and advanced formulas to streamline data processing, modeling, and validation across diverse PBM contracts and pricing structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable Excel models using Power Query, PivotTables, and advanced functions to support financial analysis and reporting workflows.
- Write, optimize, and document complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and model claims data for repricing, forecasting, and performance benchmarking.
- Integrate and standardize claims data from multiple pharmacy benefit managers, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with financial models.
- Develop reusable, template-based analytical systems that adapt to varying account configurations, contract terms, and pricing methodologies.
- Support Project Prism by validating data integrity, verifying pricing logic, and identifying root causes of discrepancies in collaboration with database teams.
- Provide analytical backing for PBM RFPs, including scenario modeling, financial comparisons, and sensitivity assessments.
- Build and maintain tools for disruption analysis, including member- and account-level reporting, with rigorous validation protocols.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support rebate forecasting, contract analysis, and strategic decision-making.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to query performance, data access, macro execution, and file management across analytical platforms.
- Ensure financial accuracy through version control, documentation, and quality assurance processes across multi-stage data pipelines.
- Respond to time-sensitive ad-hoc requests from leadership and external partners with clear, data-driven insights.
- Manage and audit PBM pricing lists, tracking changes and reporting financial or structural impacts across versions.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in an analytical field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Finance, Statistics, or Public Health. A minimum of five years of experience in data analytics—preferably within pharmacy, healthcare, or a PBM setting—is required. Proficiency in SQL is essential, including complex joins, aggregations, window functions, and query optimization. Advanced Excel skills are mandatory, with expertise in Power Query, structured referencing, and financial modeling functions such as INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, and array logic.
Experience working with large healthcare claims datasets and multi-phase financial modeling workflows is critical. Familiarity with business intelligence tools like Power BI or Tableau is expected. Strong analytical reasoning and attention to financial detail are necessary, along with the ability to communicate technical results clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Background
- Experience with VBA for automation and scripting in Excel.
- Working knowledge of SAS, including macro programming and data step logic.
- Proficiency in Python for data processing or analytical automation.
- Deep understanding of pharmacy claims data structures and PBM contract mechanics, including rebates, formulary tiers, channel rules, and AWP/WAC pricing models.
- Background supporting RFP financial modeling and long-term pricing comparisons.
- Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data platforms.
- Use of Jira or similar systems to manage analytical tasks and workflows.
