Responsibilities

  • Help define and implement standards, design patterns, and strategic roadmaps for Core HR, Payroll, and related platforms across multiple business functions.
  • Design and deploy scalable, secure custom and SaaS-based solutions that satisfy business and technical requirements.
  • Ensure all solutions adhere to architectural standards and integrate seamlessly with connected systems.
  • Assess and adopt emerging technologies such as automation, AI, data unification, and SaaS tools to meet product and business goals.
  • Work closely with architecture, product, and data teams to promote consistency and reuse across platforms.
  • Lead full lifecycle delivery of Core HR and Payroll initiatives, from technical design through deployment and post-launch support.
  • Oversee technical execution, release scheduling, and environment management to maintain system stability and release predictability.
  • Enforce high standards in DevOps practices, code quality, documentation, and automated testing.
  • Collaborate with integration, data, and infrastructure teams to ensure robust data exchange and system interoperability.
  • Monitor system performance and operational metrics, leading incident resolution and continuous optimization efforts.
  • Act as the primary development lead for the modernization of critical HR and Payroll systems.
  • Build and manage a hybrid team of internal and external engineers, architects, and offshore delivery resources.
  • Serve as the accountable leader for third-party and managed service partners, ensuring quality, cost efficiency, and strategic fit.
  • Establish clear work scopes, service-level agreements, and governance frameworks with external delivery teams.
  • Promote a collaborative, ownership-driven culture that strengthens internal capabilities while leveraging partner execution.
  • Coach and develop team members, fostering engagement, accountability, and career growth.
  • Support budget and resource planning to ensure efficient allocation across projects.
  • Ensure HR and Payroll systems comply with corporate security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
  • Follow established governance practices, including change control, versioning, and documentation protocols.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Privacy, and Security teams to ensure proper handling of sensitive data.
  • Deliver regular updates on project status, risks, and system health to technology and business stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor for HR and Payroll engineering initiatives across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications: Minimum RequirementsThe role will be based in mainland UK and suited to candidates residing anywhere within territory.
