Responsibilities
- Lead technical execution of large-scale flood modelling initiatives across catchments in New Zealand, including rainfall analysis, flood risk assessments, and stormwater infrastructure planning
- Deliver strategic flood elevation data to inform civil engineering designs, such as building floor elevations, site grading, and regulatory development parameters
- Manage the flood modelling project portfolio with a focus on technical accuracy, consistency, and adherence to industry best practices
- Serve as principal reviewer and validator for complex flood models, ensuring technical integrity across high-impact deliverables
- Offer expert guidance to project teams on modelling approaches, engineering decisions, and flood risk interpretation
- Shape technical standards, project delivery frameworks, and quality control procedures across the organisation
- Conduct advanced hydrological and hydraulic analyses for catchments, stormwater networks, pipelines, and drainage systems
- Evaluate model results for infrastructure components including catch basins, manholes, pipes, detention basins, and broader stormwater assets
- Work closely with civil, water, and infrastructure specialists to refine designs and assess flood impact implications
- Promote high technical standards through the use of industry software such as InfoWorks ICM, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, and ArcGIS
- Lead Technical Approach Reviews and initiate key project meetings to establish strong technical oversight
- Develop and maintain key client relationships by delivering reliable technical insights and identifying new business potential
- Lead business growth efforts including proposal development, tender presentations, and strategic initiatives across New Zealand
- Coach and advance technical staff, fostering professional development and cross-team knowledge exchange
