Shape robust backend systems as a Senior PHP/Symfony Developer for high-impact applications in aviation and fuel management. This is a permanent, fully remote position working closely with UK-based teams in an Agile setup. You'll play a central role in designing, building, and running production-grade services, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and well-maintained.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain core backend components using PHP and Symfony, focusing on reliability and performance
- Collaborate across disciplines to align technical implementation with business objectives and testing strategies
- Participate in task estimation and sprint planning to support predictable delivery
- Design solutions, review requirements, and deliver features with measurable business impact
- Monitor deployments, troubleshoot issues in staging and production, and lead incident response during on-call cycles
- Enforce coding standards, conduct thorough code reviews, and ensure comprehensive test coverage with PHPUnit
- Break down complex initiatives into actionable work items to improve delivery flow
- Champion clean, modular architecture and promote best practices in TDD, BDD, and DDD
- Guide peers through mentorship and advocate for automation, security (OWASP), and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of professional PHP development experience
- At least one year of hands-on Symfony framework experience with a shipped project
- 1.5+ years using PHPUnit for test-driven development
- Strong understanding of API design and backend system architecture
- Experience with MongoDB, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus
- Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Node.js is beneficial but not required
