Responsibilities
- Define and drive the long-term technology vision, strategic direction, and multi-year engineering roadmap by aligning technical initiatives with core business goals to support scalable, customer-focused platforms and products.
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team by recruiting, mentoring, and retaining senior engineers; create defined career progression paths; and cultivate a culture rooted in ownership, technical excellence, and ongoing development.
- Oversee execution of large-scale, cross-departmental initiatives across customer-facing digital experiences, internal operations systems, and foundational transaction platforms, prioritizing timely delivery and quantifiable results.
- Act as the principal technical authority for architectural decisions, platform investments, and build-versus-buy evaluations, balancing future scalability with practical short-term delivery needs.
- Collaborate closely with leaders in Product, Data, Design, Information Security, and IT to ensure engineering plays an integral, proactive role in shaping product and technology strategies, not just implementation.
- Enforce rigorous engineering standards across code integrity, automated testing, cybersecurity, and system reliability, ensuring continuous production availability and operational resilience.
- Promote and institutionalize Agile methodologies and modern software delivery practices—including continuous integration and deployment, iterative planning, and trunk-based development—to enhance team efficiency and shorten development cycles.
- Serve as the primary engineering representative to executive management, board members, and external stakeholders, articulating technical tradeoffs and advocating for sustained investment in foundational technology.
