About the Role

This role leads and supports a key segment of the revenue cycle management team within a large hospital-based patient financial services department. You will oversee daily operations related to billing, collections, and payment processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all stages of the revenue lifecycle.

What You'll Do

You will supervise a team responsible for critical financial functions, setting priorities and providing technical guidance to maintain high performance. This includes monitoring compliance with federal, state, and third-party payer regulations, managing timely filing standards, and resolving complex account issues. You’ll conduct audits, analyze performance metrics, and generate operational reports to track quality, volume, and turnaround times.

Collaboration is central to this role—you’ll work closely with medical practices and payer representatives to refine processes, implement improvements, and ensure contract terms are correctly applied. You’ll lead training initiatives, coach team members in billing and customer service practices, and support cross-training across outpatient billing functions. Regular reporting, worklist oversight, and reconciliation of credit balances are part of ongoing responsibilities.

You will also participate in monthly meetings with payer partners, attend continuing education sessions, and contribute to internal and external audits. Leadership duties include performance evaluations, hiring recommendations, and representing the department on committees as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience in revenue cycle or financial operations
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience in a healthcare financial setting
  • Strong knowledge of third-party payers, billing regulations, and reimbursement compliance
  • Experience supervising teams and leading process improvements
  • Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and ensure adherence to contractual and regulatory standards
