As a Staff Engineer in Power Engineering, you will lead the development and integration of power delivery systems that span from the electrical grid to the processor level. Your work will define the architecture of next-generation power components, ensuring they meet the demanding requirements of AI computing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, evaluate, and validate power system components across the full stack—from grid input to on-chip delivery.
- Build and maintain test infrastructure for power hardware, incorporating firmware and software tools to support validation in Graphcore environments.
- Create and test hardware prototypes to explore and verify new power delivery concepts.
- Define the long-term power technology roadmap by aligning internal system requirements with vendor development plans, driving innovation in efficiency and reliability.
- Specify and design rack-level power shelves, with a focus on resiliency and fault tolerance.
- Develop and implement data center power policies, including oversubscription strategies, job scheduling based on power availability, and fault monitoring.
- Ensure IT systems maintain stable operation during grid fluctuations and comply with external power quality standards.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues in power hardware and firmware, working closely with engineering teams.
- Ensure all designs meet applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering and demonstrate strong expertise in power system architecture and delivery. Experience in rack-level hardware design—including servers, storage, networking, and power distribution—is essential. Proficiency in developing and debugging power-related hardware and firmware is required, along with strong analytical abilities and effective communication skills. You should thrive in fast-moving, interdisciplinary environments.
Preferred candidates will have exposure to emerging technologies in AI and data centers and feel confident engaging directly with internal and external stakeholders during requirements and solution development.
