Position Overview
This role supports Young Life’s urban ministry in San Jose, serving youth from diverse backgrounds through relational outreach, spiritual guidance, and leadership development. Key Responsibilities
- Create and follow a personal spiritual growth plan that includes prayer, study, reflection, and participation in a local church community.
- Support and mentor volunteer leaders through regular meetings, training, and team development.
- Lead youth programs including weekly gatherings, discipleship groups, and seasonal camp experiences.
- Recruit and equip leaders who reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of the community.
- Develop and implement strategies for youth engagement, fundraising, and donor communication.
- Build relationships with parents, educators, and community leaders to strengthen outreach efforts.
- Organize and assist in ministry events and campaigns under the guidance of area leadership.
- Manage records for youth, volunteers, and donors with accuracy and discretion.
- Uphold organizational standards in conduct, communication, and stewardship of resources.
- Contribute to strategic planning and annual goal setting to expand ministry reach.
Qualifications
Applicants must affirm a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and align with the organization’s core beliefs. Experience in youth ministry, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate clearly are essential. Preferred Background
A college degree is preferred but not required. Prior experience in relational ministry or cross-cultural outreach is beneficial.
Compensation and Support
The salary range is $48,000–$67,500, adjusted for cost of living and experience. Compensation may vary based on fundraising ability and tenure. Affordable housing may be available, subject to discussion with leadership.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position based in San Jose, CA. The role requires flexibility in schedule, including evenings and weekends, to engage with youth and participate in ministry activities. Staff are expected to maintain professional conduct and adhere to organizational policies.
