About the Role
The role involves leading the design, simulation, and integration of antennas in wearable devices, working cross-functionally to meet performance, regulatory, and product requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and optimization of antenna systems for small-form-factor wearables
- Perform electromagnetic simulations and modeling to predict antenna behavior
- Collaborate with industrial design and mechanical engineering teams on integration
- Ensure antenna performance meets regulatory and certification standards
- Conduct over-the-air testing and troubleshoot performance issues
- Work with PCB layout engineers to optimize RF circuit placement
- Support compliance testing for FCC, CE, and other regional requirements
- Evaluate antenna performance in proximity to human tissue
- Develop test plans and validation procedures for RF subsystems
- Interface with contract manufacturers and external labs for prototyping
- Maintain design documentation and simulation records
- Stay current with advancements in antenna technologies and materials
- Mentor junior engineers in antenna and RF design principles
- Support product certification efforts across global markets
- Analyze trade-offs between size, efficiency, and bandwidth in antenna design
- Use network analyzers and spectrum analyzers for measurements
- Optimize designs for manufacturability and yield
- Integrate antennas in metal and composite enclosures
- Address electromagnetic interference and compatibility challenges
- Contribute to design for regulatory compliance and safety
- Support design iterations based on user-worn testing data
- Collaborate with firmware teams on RF-related functionality
- Evaluate third-party antenna components when applicable
- Develop and maintain antenna design guidelines
- Participate in design reviews across product development phases
