Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of user interfaces and consumer experiences for an AI platform across multiple platforms and interaction types, ensuring interactions feel natural and efficient.
- Work with Product and Engineering teams to shape product strategy and guide cross-functional decisions that improve user outcomes.
- Turn user needs, technical constraints, and business goals into innovative design solutions that enhance human capabilities and improve daily life.
- Apply systems thinking to design interfaces, considering how individual components affect the overall AI experience, especially in the context of probabilistic AI and multimodal inputs.
- Develop high-fidelity visual designs including layouts, typography, color schemes, and icons that are both visually appealing and highly functional.
- Design engaging interactions and seamless interface flows using tools such as Origami Studio, Principle, and Protopie, incorporating motion design to improve comprehension and experience.
- Use technical knowledge to simulate model behaviors through system instructions and prototyping methods, helping define design requirements.
- Stay informed about advancements in consumer tech, generative AI, and natural language processing to drive innovation in design.
- Evaluate the interplay between AI models, interface design, ethics, and societal effects to build responsible and thoughtful solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- 7 or more years of experience designing user interfaces for complex software, including direct experience with conversational AI or large language models.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating skill in visual, motion, and interaction design, with examples of AI-powered interfaces and leading consumer applications.
- Proficiency in designing user-centered experiences across web, desktop, and mobile platforms, with an understanding of adapting AI interactions to different devices.
- Proven ability to design intuitive and engaging interactions for AI-driven products.
- Experience guiding cross-functional teams through ideation, validation, and iteration to turn abstract concepts into shipped products.
- Familiarity with behavioral data and the ability to design using data, as well as the ability to progress without it when necessary.
- Skilled in design tools including Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and Principle.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to listen, advocate for design, and challenge assumptions with new perspectives.
- Excellent presentation and storytelling abilities, capable of communicating clearly to leadership and cross-company teams.
- A systems thinker passionate about creating innovative, user-centered AI experiences, with awareness of ethical, accessible, and societal implications.
- Proven ability to succeed in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with rapid iteration and limited resources.
