Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and expand a team of 4 to 6 engineers specializing in embedded firmware and electrical hardware, managing recruitment, performance evaluations, and professional growth.
- Define and guide technical strategy across hardware and firmware domains, ensuring high standards in system architecture, design reviews, and engineering documentation.
- Develop and maintain project timelines, resource plans, and deliverables for multiple parallel initiatives, with regular updates to engineering and program leadership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including power electronics, thermal, mechanical, systems, SDVT, compliance, manufacturing, and program management across global R&D locations.
- Serve as the local leadership representative in Austin within a distributed organizational model, fostering team culture and scalability.
- Engage directly in high-priority technical tasks such as system architecture, board-level bring-up, and resolution of critical engineering issues.
- Evaluate and approve firmware designs and hardware circuit diagrams, making informed decisions on cross-domain design compromises.
- Lead investigations into field and production failures, implementing corrective actions that improve product design and development processes.
- Ensure full compliance with safety and regulatory standards, including UL and IEC, for battery energy storage and grid-interactive systems.
- Optimize product cost, manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability from initial concept through to mass production.
