Responsibilities
- Ensure the stability, availability, and efficiency of PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, and Clickhouse database environments
- Work closely with internal teams to identify current issues, communicate enhancements, and forecast upcoming database requirements
- Create automated solutions for repetitive tasks using Python, bash, Ansible, or comparable scripting tools
- Design, implement, and manage end-to-end database monitoring systems
- Build and validate reliable backup and recovery mechanisms
- Develop, execute, and regularly test disaster recovery plans
- Detect and refine inefficient queries to improve overall system performance
- Establish standardized testing protocols and conditions to verify query and report accuracy
- Investigate and resolve data-related issues while providing technical support to development teams
- Engage in collaborative decision-making, issue resolution, and project planning activities
- Produce thorough documentation and operational runbooks for incident response and procedures
- Record all database system changes, configurations, and administrative actions
- Support team development through knowledge sharing, coaching, and cross-training initiatives
- Participate in an on-call schedule to address urgent database issues
- Serve as a technical authority on database design, tuning, and maintenance for application teams
- Automate database management workflows and deliver self-service capabilities to internal users
