Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation and stability of all production and non-production database systems
- Establish and enforce standards for physical data layout, access methods, security, and storage design
- Execute backup and recovery procedures for database management platforms
- Adjust and fine-tune database configuration settings for optimal performance
- Build prototypes based on logical data models to validate designs
- Specify requirements for data storage, define data dictionaries, and plan data warehouse structures
- Enhance database access speed and efficiently distribute resources for peak performance and cost efficiency
- Implement and manage data replication and database mirroring setups
- Set up automated database maintenance routines
- Carry out regular backup and disaster recovery operations
- Diagnose and resolve SQL Server performance problems, including during off-hours and weekends
- Monitor SQL Server instances for stability, usage, and performance trends
- Deploy and configure new SQL Server installations
- Build and maintain data warehouses and multidimensional cubes using SQL Server Analysis Services
- Upgrade existing SQL Server databases to versions 2012 and 2014
- Create reporting solutions using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Maintain and troubleshoot SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages
- Formulate standards for database design, development, and operational management
- Collaborate with software developers on database architecture and design choices
- Integrate and manage third-party databases for vendor applications
- Evaluate, write, and support stored procedures and SQL queries
- Assess business intelligence tools for compatibility with existing data architecture involving SQL and Oracle systems
- Create and manage dashboards and reports using business intelligence platforms
- Deliver training sessions on BI tools for end users
- Develop and conduct technical training for developers on BI system integration
