This role involves the full lifecycle of mechatronic system development, from design and testing to documentation and support. You'll apply deep knowledge of electronic components, circuit theory, and PCB design principles to create and maintain complex systems used in transit electronics. Using tools like Altium Designer and OrCAD, you'll develop and verify schematics, ensuring designs meet ISO9001, CMMI, and internal policy standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and troubleshoot printed circuit boards using systematic methodologies and automated test equipment
- Interpret and create PCB schematics, documenting processes with flowcharts in Microsoft Visio
- Write and execute test scripts in Python and work with embedded systems using communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART
- Apply programming skills in C for real-time or memory-constrained environments, integrating firmware with hardware
- Review test procedures, ensure accuracy, and maintain strict document control and revision tracking
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and business development teams to meet project timelines and contractual requirements
- Support process improvement initiatives, including the expansion of CMMI practices within engineering workflows
- Travel to customer sites as needed for design reviews and technical discussions (10–25% of time)
Qualifications and Skills
You should hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree and have 2–4 years of experience in electrical or mechanical design, particularly with embedded systems and electronic components. Proficiency with MS Office Suite and experience in reading technical documentation are essential. Familiarity with pneumatic, hydraulic, or HVAC systems is beneficial but not required.
Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently under minimal supervision are critical. You must be able to manage multiple tasks, adapt to shifting priorities, and maintain accuracy in fast-paced environments. Programming experience in Python, C, or related languages is highly valued.
