Ciena Communications, Inc. is hiring a Specialist, Account Management

Drive strategic growth in high-value enterprise markets by establishing long-term partnerships with Fortune 100, Healthcare/Pharma, and emerging Neocloud organizations. This role focuses on entering untapped accounts and positioning scalable infrastructure as a foundation for AI-driven transformation and modern data center architectures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new business within enterprise accounts that have no prior engagement, with a focus on displacing incumbent providers.
  • Position technology solutions as critical enablers of AI scalability, particularly for early-adopter organizations in healthcare and life sciences.
  • Develop trusted relationships with C-suite and senior IT decision-makers in complex organizational environments.
  • Align optical and data networking capabilities with strategic business goals to demonstrate measurable value.
  • Lead cross-functional teams—including sales engineering, product, and executive leadership—to design and deliver compelling, large-scale proposals.
  • Execute a self-directed sales strategy across the Northeast and Central United States, leveraging market insight and relationship-building to advance long-cycle opportunities.
  • Stay ahead of competitive dynamics in the AI and cloud infrastructure space to clearly articulate differentiation.

Qualifications

Candidates must have at least five years of experience in enterprise solution selling, with proven success in penetrating large organizations and managing extended sales cycles. A track record of winning new accounts from scratch is essential.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex corporate hierarchies and lead high-impact executive discussions.
  • Strong presentation skills and the confidence to engage at the boardroom level.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset, capable of independent action within a performance-driven culture.

Networking sales experience is advantageous. While technical knowledge of optical systems is beneficial, the ability to translate technology into tangible business outcomes is the primary success factor.

Work Environment

This hybrid role supports remote work within the Northeast and Central US regions, offering flexibility while maintaining alignment with regional market demands. The position requires periodic travel to meet clients and collaborate with internal teams.

Benefits & Compensation

The total target compensation ranges from $200,400 to $320,000 annually, combining base salary and incentive components. Additional offerings include eligibility for sales commission, participation in the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), and a comprehensive benefits package covering medical, dental, vision, retirement plans with company match, paid time off, sick leave, and family leave in compliance with applicable regulations.
