AECOM is hiring a Software License Management Specialist

This role focuses on the governance and efficiency of engineering software licenses within a large-scale enterprise environment. You will maintain accurate records of all software entitlements, ensuring full compliance with vendor agreements and internal policies. Your work will directly support legal adherence, cost control, and strategic technology planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a centralized repository of engineering software licenses and associated documentation
  • Conduct regular audits to verify software usage against contractual terms and detect non-compliance
  • Interpret complex licensing agreements and translate them into enforceable internal controls
  • Identify risks related to underuse, over-deployment, or non-compliant installations
  • Develop and maintain governance frameworks for software licensing and disposal
  • Deliver training to teams on proper license usage, version management, and compliance protocols
  • Analyze utilization metrics to uncover inefficiencies and recommend consolidation or reassignment
  • Support budget planning by forecasting future license needs based on project demands
  • Collaborate with procurement and finance teams on renewal strategies, negotiations, and financial modeling
  • Work closely with engineering and operations units to align license allocation with business needs
  • Improve existing license management processes and tools through continuous feedback and innovation
  • Partner with specialists in software rationalization and governance to strengthen enterprise-wide standards

Qualifications

You bring a solid understanding of software licensing models—including subscription, perpetual, concurrent, and named user types—and experience with engineering applications such as CAD, simulation, and design platforms. Proficiency in license tracking tools and reporting systems is essential. You are detail-oriented, analytically strong, and skilled at communicating insights to stakeholders across technical and business functions.

Success in this role requires the ability to interpret data, influence decision-making, and drive improvements in compliance and efficiency. You will work closely with IT procurement, budgeting teams, and vendor partners to ensure optimal software utilization across the organization.

Work Environment

This position operates in a hybrid model, requiring three days per week on-site in Pretoria, South Africa, with flexibility for remote work on other days. You will collaborate with global teams and contribute to enterprise-wide technology strategies.
