eBay is hiring a Software Engineer

eBay is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Shipping team and build the next generation of shipping platforms at massive scale. You will be a key hands-on contributor, designing, building, and operating highly scalable, resilient services that millions of buyers and sellers rely on every day.

What You'll Do

  • Drive the development of high-performance backend systems, ensuring reliability and integration into eBay’s Shipping platform.
  • Lead initiatives that advance shipping architectural vision and improve transaction efficiency to increase user satisfaction and throughput.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce innovative payment features that expand eBay’s offerings.
  • Mentor and support engineering peers in adopting best technical practices and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to boost performance and facilitate interoperability with a global carrier network.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience with advanced technical projects.
  • 6+ years of software development experience on large-scale, high-volume systems in a microservice architecture for the cloud.
  • Proven ability in architecting and scaling backend systems to accommodate substantial user and transaction growth.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python, alongside knowledge of cloud computing and microservices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience managing tasks with agile methodology and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to Have

  • Proven experience in backend software development with expertise in logistics platforms.

You will be part of the rapidly evolving Shipping team, which operates at massive scale delivering complex distributed services. You will report to Engineering management.
