Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, guide, and inspire team members to maximize their quality and productivity output.
- Encourage employee engagement through regular crew meetings, safety committees, audits, and collaborative problem resolution.
- Oversee and supervise daily departmental operations and workflow.
- Provide input and assist in planning and executing process enhancements.
- Foster positive departmental and organizational culture through forward-thinking communication with staff.
- Uphold the company’s union-free environment by ensuring transparent and consistent communication with employees.
- Coordinate personnel, materials, and equipment scheduling to optimize resource use in alignment with organizational goals.
- Assign tasks and adjust assignments as needed to meet staffing and production demands.
- Ensure consistent and fair enforcement of company policies, upholding standards in safety, quality, food safety, and employee satisfaction.
- Exercise sound judgment in applying corrective actions within the department as required.
- Manage the employee performance review process for the team.
- Prepare, deliver, and approve performance evaluations, including those created by process leaders.
- Apply proactive improvement strategies using statistical process control (SPC) and real-time performance data.
- Actively drive efficiency and quality outcomes while maintaining a secure workplace.
- Support special projects and contribute to problem-solving teams as needed.
- Monitor equipment performance and conduct quality inspections to uphold productivity and quality benchmarks.
- Advance safe work practices through training, hazard identification, safety audits, and incident investigations.
- Lead the creation and execution of departmental goals, objectives, and budget, with systems in place to track variances.
- Maintain a constructive and cooperative work environment through professional conduct and communication with colleagues, clients, and leadership.
- Enforce compliance with all company policies related to personnel, quality, safety, and food safety.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven and logical problem-solving methods.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, shipping, and receiving management principles.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage employees and projects.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
- Basic computer proficiency, including email, SAP, Word, and Excel.
- Skilled in managing workplace conflicts effectively.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Awareness of cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
- Solid aptitude in mathematics.
- Fundamental mechanical knowledge.
- Completion of Lockout/Tagout training and familiarity with related safety protocols and other workplace safety programs.
- Valid pallet jack operator license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution, or one to two years of relevant experience or training, or a comparable mix of education and work history.
- Fluency in more than one language is advantageous.
