Responsibilities
- Handles manual and administrative tasks involved in shipping and receiving materials, equipment, and finished goods via freight or less-than-truckload carriers.
- Verifies shipments against shipping documents and authorizations, packages items per requirements, and prepares bills of lading.
- Records weight and shipping charges, and attaches necessary labels and instructions to packages.
- Unloads delivery vehicles and checks incoming shipments against bills of lading and packing slips for correct identification and quantity.
- Keeps accurate records of all received goods and maintains related documentation.
- Supports manufacturing operations by performing routine, diverse tasks following established procedures.
- Organizes and maintains files and records essential to logistics operations.
- Uses hand tools and operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move and stage materials.
- Loads trucks efficiently and safely using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Communicates clearly with customers, suppliers, customer service teams, and production staff.
- Collaborates across departments to maintain efficient handling, storage, and shipment of products at optimal cost.
- Assists supervisors with team tasks, training initiatives, safety programs, and special assignments.
- Follows all safety protocols, quality standards, and internal procedures.
- Identifies and reports issues, risks, or unsafe conditions to management promptly.
- Examines products and shipments to confirm they meet required specifications.
- Attends production or coordination meetings when needed to align shipping and receiving schedules.
- Keeps the work environment clean, organized, and secure, especially at dock areas.
- Supports the organization’s quality goals by understanding and applying the Quality Policy and Objectives.
- May operate a delivery van for local transportation of goods, ensuring vehicle safety and regulatory compliance.
