Responsibilities
- Handles both physical and administrative tasks involved in shipping and receiving materials, equipment, and products via freight or less-than-truckload carriers.
- Verifies shipments against documentation, packages items per requirements, creates bills of lading, logs weights and shipping costs, and labels packages with appropriate instructions.
- Unloads delivery vehicles, confirms contents against shipping papers such as bills of lading and packing lists, verifies item identification and quantities, and keeps accurate records of incoming goods.
- Completes a range of standard tasks to support manufacturing functions following defined protocols.
- Manages required documentation and maintains organized filing systems for shipping and receiving records.
- Uses hand tools and operates material movement equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, skids, and hand trucks to move, stage, and load cargo.
- Communicates clearly with clients, vendors, customer service teams, and production staff.
- Develops strong working relationships across departments, coordinating resources to ensure proper handling, storage, and shipment of goods at optimal cost.
- Supports supervisors with team activities, training initiatives, safety programs, and special assignments.
- Follows all safety, quality, and operational policies and ensures adherence throughout daily tasks.
- Identifies and reports issues, potential risks, or unsafe conditions to leadership promptly.
- Examines products or shipments to confirm they meet required specifications and standards.
- Attends production or coordination meetings as needed and consults with other teams to align logistics activities.
- Keeps the work environment clean, orderly, and secure, including monitoring access at loading dock areas.
- Supports the implementation and achievement of defined quality goals and principles.
- May operate a delivery van for local transport of materials or products, ensuring vehicle safety and compliance with all applicable regulations.
