Role Overview
Lead the underwriting of new and renewal business for Accident & Health Medical Stop Loss within defined authority limits. This position plays a central role in shaping profitable portfolios, assessing risk, and delivering sound decisions that align with organizational targets and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough risk evaluations for new and existing policies to support sustainable growth and identify market opportunities.
- Prepare quotes, assess policy amendments, and manage exceptions in line with departmental performance goals.
- Ensure compliance with loss ratio targets, rate increase benchmarks, and portfolio retention objectives.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with agents and clients to understand evolving needs and recommend appropriate coverage solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to share insights, resolve challenges, and advance strategic business outcomes.
- Deliver timely, professional responses to stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of underwriting decisions.
- Maintain accurate documentation, generate reports, and meet new business volume expectations consistently.
- Support a positive team culture by modeling accountability, integrity, and inclusive behaviors.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a solid foundation in underwriting with demonstrated experience in insurance risk assessment. A tertiary degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience is required.
Preferred candidates will bring prior experience in insurance underwriting, particularly with risk modeling and pricing methodologies. Familiarity with high-volume environments and growing levels of responsibility is advantageous. Existing relationships with brokers or customer networks are a plus.

Work Environment

Compensation & Benefits
Base salary ranges from $99,000 to $149,000 annually, with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus tied to individual and company performance. Additional offerings include:
