What You'll Do
Handle the full lifecycle of litigation matters, representing clients in bodily injury, property damage, and financial dispute cases. Lead hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials while preparing motions and legal arguments with precision. Support internal teams by resolving scheduling conflicts and contributing to coordinated case strategies.
Provide timely legal guidance on regulatory changes and emerging case law, ensuring business units are informed and compliant. Work closely with the Law and Regulation team to assess risk, monitor legal representation, and deliver proactive counsel that aligns with organizational objectives.
Requirements
- Must hold a Juris Doctorate and be an active member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
- Minimum of three years of litigation experience, with demonstrated skill in case strategy, legal research, and courtroom advocacy.
- Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload and perform effectively under pressure.
- Comfortable working remotely with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, LexisNexis, TeamConnect, and legal research platforms.
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout the Hampton Roads area, including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Newport News.
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working alongside attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff under senior supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- First or second chair experience in jury trials.
- Background in insurance defense litigation.
- Advanced familiarity with LexisNexis legal research tools.
