AECOM is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer — Security and Surveillance

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical expert for enterprise video management and security systems.
  • Deliver specialized support for configuring, fine-tuning, verifying, and enhancing video analytics performance.
  • Oversee Windows Server environments with focus on security hardening, patch management, monitoring, and resource planning.
  • Propose and assist with database upkeep, indexing strategies, and performance enhancements to maintain reliability and growth capacity.
  • Review and update site-specific IP address allocations, network layouts, and final as-built records.
  • Assess integration opportunities with external systems, including access control, emergency alerting, and data analytics platforms.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact across engineering units, field personnel, and vendor partners, advising on hardware compatibility and deployment logistics.
  • Assist in creating technical documentation, operational procedures, and instructional content for varied audiences.
  • Guide inventory planning for critical spares, equipment life cycle management, and strategies to reduce system downtime.
  • Deliver high-level engineering support during major system failures or urgent operational events.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical advisor and program SME for enterprise Video Management Systems (VMS) and security platforms.
  • Provide expert guidance on video analytics configuration, tuning, validation, and optimization.
  • Support oversight of Windows Server infrastructure, including patching strategies, monitoring, hardening, and capacity planning.
  • Recommend and support database maintenance, index optimization, and performance improvements to ensure system stability and scalability.
  • Maintain and review site IP matrices, network diagrams, and as-built documentation.
  • Advise on and evaluate third-party system integrations and cross-system data bridges (e.g., access control, emergency communications, analytics platforms).
  • Act as the technical liaison between engineering teams, field technicians, and vendors; provide guidance on hardware compatibility and deployment coordination.
  • Support development of technical reports, operational documentation, and training materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advise on spare parts inventory strategy, lifecycle planning, and downtime mitigation approaches.
  • Provide escalation-level engineering support during critical incidents or system outages.
