Requirements
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in backend or platform engineering, focused on distributed or data-intensive systems
- Strong knowledge of database technologies and standards related to knowledge graph data models
- Proficient in systems programming languages such as Java or C++, with emphasis on system deployment, scaling, and debugging over language-specific mastery
- Proven experience developing and maintaining production services with defined service level objectives, including performance, scalability, and reliability
- Skilled in using modern observability practices, including metrics collection, log analysis, and distributed tracing
- Hands-on experience with data processing infrastructure such as graph databases, search indexing systems, or ETL pipelines
- Able to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams and communicate complex ideas clearly
- Demonstrated dedication to continuous learning, problem-solving under pressure, and supporting a mission-oriented engineering environment
Nice to Have
- Experience working with knowledge graph technologies or query languages like RDF and SPARQL
- Familiarity with real-time data streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka or Apache Flink
- Comfortable using continuous integration and delivery pipelines and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes
- Involvement in open source software projects or open knowledge initiatives
- Knowledge of Wikimedia projects, Wikidata, or MediaWiki architecture
