Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and sustain C++ software for 5G NR-NTN L2 and L3 protocol layers such as MAC, RLC, PDCP, and RRC
- Integrate L2 modifications specific to NTN, including extended HARQ timing, timing advance pre-correction, scheduling for coverage improvement, and MAC resource allocation based on satellite constellation data
- Create RRC-level enhancements tailored for NTN, including broadcast of satellite orbit data via SIB19/SIB31, UE-provided NTN assistance, extended TA commands, and coverage optimization settings
- Build the RRC measurement system, covering configuration, measurement gaps, handling of NTN-specific events (A1–A6), and reporting across frequencies and radio access technologies adapted to satellite link behavior
- Implement RRC connection management workflows including setup, reconfiguration, re-establishment, Conditional Handover (CHO), DAPS handover, and release with redirection
- Work closely with core network and mobile network operator teams to verify NGAP signaling procedures against AMF implementations in both lab and live network settings
- Diagnose, analyze, and optimize L2/L3 protocol issues in Linux-based development and testing environments
- Partner with systems engineers to convert 3GPP Release 17 and 18 NR-NTN specifications into software requirements and detailed protocol designs
- Engage in code reviews, system architecture planning, and contribute to technical documentation and design artifacts
- Leverage AI-powered coding tools like Claude, Cursor, and Codex throughout development—from interpreting specs and generating templates to automating tests and reviewing code—and help define best practices for AI-assisted software engineering
