Ripple is hiring a Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Shape the future of decentralized technology by enhancing the foundational layers of the XRP Ledger. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a central role in expanding the ledger's programmability through smart contracts, with a focus on integrating and maintaining a WebAssembly (WASM) virtual machine within a high-performance C++ environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and refine core components of the XRP Ledger to improve scalability, performance, and support for decentralized applications.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of a WASM runtime, bridging low-level systems with modern execution environments.
  • Drive projects from concept to completion—architecting solutions, writing clean code in C++ and Rust, and ensuring robust testing practices.
  • Produce detailed technical documentation and lead discussions with engineers across teams and external contributors.
  • Champion code quality and best practices within an open-source community, including thorough code reviews and collaborative problem-solving.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least five years of software development experience with strong proficiency in modern C++ and Rust.
  • Proven background integrating WebAssembly runtimes into native codebases, especially in systems programming contexts.
  • Deep interest in blockchain architecture and distributed systems, with a drive to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Ability to communicate intricate concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice to Have

  • Active contributions to open-source blockchain projects or developer communities.

Environment & Benefits

The team operates in a fast-moving, innovation-driven setting with seasoned leaders in the fintech space. You’ll have access to a professional development fund, flexible hybrid work arrangements (with team-defined in-office days), and regular leadership updates through company-wide forums.

Compensation includes a competitive base salary ranging from $152,000 to $190,000 annually in New York, equity, performance bonuses, and a mobile stipend. Benefits cover comprehensive health plans, retirement support, family-forming resources, mental wellness programs, generous paid time off, and industry-leading parental leave.

Workspaces include catered meals, stocked kitchens, and frequent team events. The culture emphasizes inclusion, continuous learning, and meaningful collaboration—both in-person and remotely.
