About the Role
The role involves leading civil design efforts for land development projects, managing project timelines, preparing engineering drawings, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of land development projects including residential, commercial, and mixed-use sites
- Prepare civil site plans, grading and drainage designs, utility layouts, and stormwater management systems
- Manage project schedules and coordinate deliverables across engineering disciplines
- Review project proposals to determine feasibility, technical requirements, and resource needs
- Conduct site evaluations and field surveys to support design decisions
- Prepare and submit permit applications to regulatory agencies
- Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and public officials throughout project lifecycle
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, zoning laws, and environmental regulations
- Perform calculations for stormwater runoff, erosion control, and pavement design
- Oversee preparation of construction specifications and cost estimates
- Review contractor submittals and respond to requests for information
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff
- Utilize CAD and civil design software to produce engineering drawings
- Participate in client meetings and present project updates
- Support business development through proposal writing and client engagement
- Conduct quality control reviews of engineering deliverables
- Stay current with changes in industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Assist in the development of standard operating procedures for engineering workflows
- Collaborate with landscape architects and surveyors to integrate site features
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
- Ensure projects meet sustainability and low-impact development goals
- Conduct constructability reviews for civil components
- Support due diligence for land acquisitions
- Interface with municipal review boards during entitlement processes
- Mentor team members in technical and professional growth
