Role Overview
This position is responsible for maximizing Agile team performance by expertly managing JIRA as a central tool for project execution. The Senior Scrum Master will configure, maintain, and optimize JIRA instances to align with evolving project needs, ensuring teams can deliver value efficiently and consistently.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage custom JIRA workflows, screens, fields, and permission schemes to support diverse team requirements.
- Develop intuitive dashboards and reports that track progress, highlight bottlenecks, and deliver actionable insights.
- Integrate JIRA with collaboration and development tools such as Confluence, Slack, Bitbucket, and Jenkins to create seamless workflows.
- Implement automation using ScriptRunner or similar tools to reduce manual effort and increase system efficiency.
- Offer expert guidance on JIRA functionality and best practices, supporting users across departments and experience levels.
- Lead training initiatives and onboarding sessions to improve adoption and proficiency with Agile tools.
- Perform regular system maintenance, including upgrades, backups, and user access management, to ensure reliability.
- Diagnose and resolve configuration or integration issues, maintaining high system performance.
- Stay current with new JIRA features and industry trends to recommend improvements and updates.
- Collaborate with Agile teams to refine practices, improve delivery cycles, and foster continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A minimum of six years of experience as a JIRA Administrator or in a comparable technical Agile support role is required, including at least two years as an advanced JIRA user. Demonstrated expertise in Agile and Scrum frameworks is essential.
Proficiency in JIRA administration—including workflows, permissions, custom fields, and plugins—is expected. Candidates must have strong analytical abilities, clear communication skills, and a proven ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience integrating JIRA with development and collaboration platforms such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Confluence.
- Familiarity with automation tools like ScriptRunner.
- Atlassian certifications, particularly in JIRA Administration, are advantageous.
