Brown University is hiring a Senior Research Assistant

Brown University is hiring a Senior Research Assistant to support two studies of bystander behavior in young adults, focused on reducing sexual violence risk in alcohol contexts and reducing alcohol-related risk. You will be a critical member of the research team, ensuring the smooth execution of these important projects.

What You'll Do

  • Support participant recruitment and communication.
  • Manage participant tracking and retention.
  • Review data quality and manage datafiles.
  • Manage participant payments.
  • Document project procedures.
  • Program screening surveys and assessment batteries.
  • Assist with preparing data for analysis.
  • Support all investigator research needs.
  • Conduct virtual research participant sessions via Zoom.
  • Track consent and implement study protocols.
  • Administer study measures and train research assistants.
  • Generate and maintain project documentation.
  • Conduct library research as needed.
  • Assemble materials for IRB modifications, manuscript and presentation preparation, and progress reports.
  • Collect, organize, score, and manage data.
  • Assist with data analysis.

What We're Looking For

  • BA or BS in psychology or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with human subjects’ research related to the subject matter (e.g., sexual violence, alcohol).
  • Ability to work evening or weekend hours up to 2 days/week for participant sessions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effort to meet project goals.
  • Openness to and keen interest in learning new skills.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with statistical software (SPSS or R).
  • Coursework in research design.
  • Experience programming online surveys in Qualtrics and MetricWire/Catalyst.
  • Experience managing databases.
  • Coursework in addiction, substance abuse, and/or interpersonal violence.
  • Experience managing ecological momentary assessment data.
  • Experience with or interest in social media/marketing.
