Responsibilities
- Architect the Mobile Clinical Experience: build dynamic, high-performance mobile tools, architect deep integrations with Apple HealthKit and Google Health Connect, build secure messaging systems.
- Leverage the Expo Ecosystem: treat mobile infrastructure as a product advantage, leverage Expo for cross-platform experience, utilize EAS for build pipelines, configure custom native modules via Config Plugins, push over-the-air updates.
- Design for the Edge: architect offline-first data synchronization strategies, implement aggressive local caching.
- Champion the Mobile UX: obsess over details that make an app feel premium and native, sweat frame rates, navigation stack transitions, keyboard avoidance behaviors, accessibility standards.
- Build Agentic Workflows: utilize frontier agentic models to accelerate development, integrate AI capabilities into mobile interfaces.
- Raise the Engineering Bar: own key mobile architectural decisions, establish patterns for code reuse, elevate engineers through code review and testing practices.
Requirements
- 5-7+ years of frontend engineering experience with deep focus on React Native and Expo.
- Built, shipped, and maintained complex, data-heavy mobile applications in production.
- Expert in Expo and mobile infrastructure: manage EAS builds, integrate native modules without ejecting, navigate iOS App Store and Google Play Store guidelines.
- Master mobile state and performance: understand React render cycle on mobile, prevent UI thread blocking, optimize list rendering, orchestrate asynchronous data fetching.
- Full lifecycle owner: manage CI/CD pipeline, monitor crash rates, own app reliability.
- Use frontier agentic tools (e.g., Codex 5.3, Claude Opus 4.6) to build faster.
- Collaborative builder with low ego, high standards, excellent communication skills, thrive in cross-functional environments shaped by healthcare regulations.
- Excited to work in-person 5 days a week in San Francisco office.
Nice to Have
- Experience with native iOS (Swift/Objective-C) or Android (Kotlin/Java).
- For Staff leveling: demonstrated track record of setting technical direction across teams, navigating ambiguity, leveling up engineers.

On-site — San Francisco, CA
Our Process
Intro call (30 min, remote) — Chat with recruiter about role and expectations. Technical round (2 hrs, remote) — Practical coding + application design conversation. Behavioral interview (45 min, remote) — Technical background, motivation, and what you're looking for. Team meet (2 hrs on-site) — Meet manager, engineering peers, and product partners for 30-minute 1:1s, concluding with recruiter wrap-up. Ready to move fast, can go from first intro to offer in two weeks.
