Senior Process Quality Engineer
Role Overview
This position leads end-to-end process quality for AI-driven camera systems used in wildfire detection. You will ensure consistent, reliable performance across the entire deployment lifecycle—from site selection and manufacturing to installation, maintenance, and human-in-the-loop operations. The role is central to scaling field operations while maintaining system integrity and minimizing risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead quality assurance across all stages: site evaluation, component assembly, field installation, system commissioning, ongoing monitoring, and human-operated alert review processes.
- Create and manage process documentation including FMEAs, SOPs, installation checklists, and readiness criteria that support multi-region expansion and supplier consistency.
- Define and deploy operational KPIs and dashboards—such as first-pass yield, installation success rate, and mean time to repair—using telemetry and field data to identify deviations and systemic issues.
- Lead investigations into quality failures, including incoming material defects, installation errors, and field incidents. Develop containment strategies and implement verified corrective actions.
- Collaborate with human-in-the-loop operations to establish quality standards for alert validation, design audit protocols for operator accuracy, and integrate quality requirements into operational tools and workflows.
- Train and support field teams with practical resources—checklists, job aids, feedback mechanisms—to improve execution consistency and long-term quality outcomes.
- Work closely with Hardware, Software, Operations, and Customer Success teams to align process controls with system risks and ensure full traceability of quality evidence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering—or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 7 years in process quality, manufacturing engineering, or field operations roles for complex hardware-software systems, particularly those involving embedded devices, cloud connectivity, and AI.
- Proven experience developing FMEAs, production gates, supplier audits, and acceptance criteria for scalable operations.
- Strong background in root-cause analysis, CAPA or 8D processes, and validating the effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Experience using operational and telemetry data to monitor process health and guide improvements.
- Field experience conducting site audits, installation reviews, or supplier assessments, with willingness to travel as needed.
- Clear and effective communication skills, with ability to convey technical findings and risk assessments to both technical and executive audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in camera systems, telecom infrastructure, enterprise security, or industrial IoT deployments.
- Experience building quality assurance programs for human-reviewed monitoring systems, including audit sampling and accuracy metrics.
- Familiarity with test equipment such as handheld diagnostic tools and image sensor verification methods.
- Proficiency with data analysis platforms like SQL, Looker, Tableau, or Python for building operational dashboards.
- Experience scaling field operations across multiple regions.
Technical Environment
Tools and systems include SQL, Looker, Tableau, Python, handheld test devices, and image sensor calibration and verification procedures.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary is determined by qualifications, experience, skills, and location. Full-time roles include eligibility for stock options. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, and a matching 401(k) plan. Flexible paid time off supports work-life balance.
Work Model
This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, combining in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. Occasional travel may be required for field assessments and supplier engagements.
