Banyan Software is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer - Reporting Systems

Responsibilities

• Create and support an Excel Web Add-in for use in both Excel Online and desktop environments by financial teams
• Develop cloud-based APIs to manage report execution, input parameters, and result handling
• Design and enhance a secure on-premises connector that interfaces with customer SQL Server instances or Azure cloud infrastructure
• Optimize SQL queries and database schemas for reporting and analytical workloads
• Ensure system-wide reliability, performance, and security across all components
• Convert business and reporting requirements into well-defined technical specifications and architectures
• Establish clear system boundaries, functional responsibilities, and data movement patterns
• Break down complex projects into manageable, prioritized development tasks
• Evaluate and provide feedback on technical designs and code from peer developers
• Define practical engineering standards for performance, security, and long-term maintainability
• Collaborate closely with product and business teams as a technical advisor
• Help develop AI-powered features such as reporting support, metadata creation, workflow automation, and semantic understanding
• Apply sound judgment to determine where AI integration adds value versus where traditional engineering precision is required
