Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust backend services using PHP and the Symfony framework
- Take full ownership of features from initial planning to deployment in production
- Produce clean, type-safe, and maintainable code that adheres to high quality benchmarks
- Apply proven design patterns consistently across codebases
- Develop and sustain comprehensive test suites using PHPUnit and related tools
- Advocate for and follow Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies
- Enforce code reliability using static analysis, linters, and quality enforcement tools
- Engage in thorough code reviews, offering and accepting actionable feedback
- Work closely with product, design, and QA teams to deliver resilient software solutions
- Decompose large-scale projects into manageable tasks and lead their execution
- Monitor live systems and join a rotating on-call rotation when necessary
- Champion secure coding standards and proactively address vulnerabilities
- Record architectural choices, system designs, and workflows for team knowledge sharing
- Guide less experienced engineers and help cultivate a culture of technical excellence
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional PHP development experience (versions 7.4 or 8+)
- At least 3 years of direct experience working with the Symfony framework
- Demonstrated ability to apply software design patterns effectively
- Proven track record in writing unit and integration tests using tools like PHPUnit or Behat
- Hands-on experience practicing Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Familiarity with static analysis tools such as PHPStan or Psalm
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, code coverage metrics, and deployment processes
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical decisions clearly
- High level of personal accountability and initiative in delivering results
Nice to Have
- Experience working with MongoDB
- Knowledge of JavaScript, React, Node.js, or TypeScript
- Experience using Docker or Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration
- Background in developing or maintaining high-availability or mission-critical systems
