Responsibilities
- Process monthly payroll for Australian employees with precision and on schedule
- Verify payroll data inputs including hours, leave, and salary adjustments
- Ensure compliance with Australian tax regulations and statutory requirements
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian payroll legislation
- Generate and review payroll reports for accuracy prior to submission
- Support year-end payroll processes and tax filings
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries promptly and professionally
- Audit payroll records to ensure data integrity
- Assist in payroll system improvements and process automation
- Coordinate with external payroll vendors when necessary
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee data
- Track and reconcile payroll journal entries
- Support internal and external audits related to payroll
- Identify and escalate payroll risks or issues proactively
- Participate in payroll training and knowledge sharing
- Ensure timely updates to payroll systems after policy changes
- Work across time zones to meet payroll deadlines
- Contribute to documentation of payroll procedures
- Support onboarding and offboarding payroll activities
- Monitor payroll error rates and recommend improvements
- Assist with special payroll projects as needed
- Maintain strong attention to detail in high-volume environments
- Uphold accuracy and timeliness in all payroll deliverables
- Promote a culture of compliance and accountability
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience
- Proven experience with Australian payroll processing
- Familiarity with Australian PAYG, superannuation, and tax regulations
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance and deadlines
- Experience with payroll software such as SAP, Oracle, or similar
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and data management
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in a global or multinational environment
- Knowledge of labor laws related to payroll in Australia
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proven track record of handling confidential information
- Experience supporting audits or financial reviews
- Understanding of month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ability to adapt to changing regulations and systems
- Customer service mindset when handling employee inquiries
- Project management skills for payroll-related initiatives
- Willingness to work occasional after-hours as needed

- Experience with automated payroll platforms

Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in payroll or HR, such as CPP or CTP
- Experience with Deel or similar global payroll platforms
- Background in technology or SaaS companies
- Familiarity with cross-border payroll challenges
- Knowledge of employment standards in multiple jurisdictions
- Experience training team members on payroll processes
- Previous remote work experience
- Fluency in multiple languages
- Experience with data privacy regulations
