Responsibilities
- Plans, deploys, manages, and maintains large-scale local and wide area networks, virtual private networks, SD-WAN, and wireless systems across multiple locations.
- Acts as lead administrator for Fortinet security infrastructure, managing firewall policies, NAT rules, intrusion prevention, SSL decryption, web filtering, high availability setups, logging, and firmware updates.
- Continuously monitors network and firewall performance to enhance reliability, speed, and protection against outages.
- Leads the deployment and governance of security measures such as network segmentation, access control lists, secure remote access, and zero-trust network principles.
- Manages hybrid identity environments using Microsoft Entra ID, ensuring secure authentication, conditional access integration, and identity-based network policies.
- Supports network components in Microsoft Azure, including virtual networks, security groups, private links, and secure hybrid connections between cloud and on-premises systems.
- Diagnoses and resolves advanced network, firewall, and connectivity problems using packet captures, log analysis, monitoring tools, and systematic troubleshooting.
- Works closely with cybersecurity, systems, and support teams to improve overall security and ensure reliable technology service delivery.
- Engages in efforts to address vulnerabilities in network systems, firewall configurations, access controls, and system hardening practices.
- Establishes and enforces standards for secure network design, firewall rule governance, VPN implementations, and administrative access protocols.
- Conducts regular maintenance, applies patches and updates, manages configuration backups, and ensures disaster recovery readiness for network and security devices.
- Creates and keeps current detailed documentation of network layouts, firewall settings, IP address schemes, VPN connections, cloud integrations, and operational processes.
- Assesses new networking technologies and proposes solutions to improve performance, security, redundancy, and growth capacity.
- Offers expert technical advice and coaching to IT team members and assists with escalated network incident resolution.
- Participates in off-hours maintenance, emergency response activities, and on-call rotations to support critical network operations.
- Performs additional tasks as required by management.
