Responsibilities
- Guide and expand teams specializing in site reliability engineering, cloud infrastructure, and machine learning operations.
- Mentor engineering managers and senior individual contributors, promoting accountability and technical excellence.
- Foster a product-oriented mindset for infrastructure, treating platforms and ML tooling as internal products that empower engineering teams.
- Collaborate with recruitment to identify and retain top-tier talent in cloud computing, system reliability, and ML infrastructure.
- Ensure production systems maintain high availability, low latency, and data durability.
- Define and refine service level indicators, objectives, and error budgets to enable data-informed decisions on system reliability.
- Oversee incident management, lead blameless postmortems, and implement structural changes to reduce manual work and improve on-call sustainability.
- Support reliability for machine learning systems, ensuring model inference and vector databases meet the same standards as core platform services.
- Advance cloud architecture strategy, including capacity planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Lead the MLOps roadmap by setting standards for model deployment, monitoring, scaling, and orchestration of LLMs and RAG pipelines.
- Drive cloud financial operations to ensure infrastructure and AI compute spending are transparent, intentional, and optimized.
- Establish best practices for infrastructure as code, configuration management, and secure handling of secrets.
- Work with security teams to implement secure-by-default infrastructure and resilient backup and recovery protocols.
- Clearly communicate technical risks and trade-offs to executive leadership, especially during critical incidents.
- Partner with product engineering teams to deliver impactful AI features while maintaining platform stability.
