About the Role
This position leads critical revenue accounting operations, driving precision in financial reporting, system integrity, and compliance with accounting standards. The role involves managing a team, collaborating across departments, and supporting audit and close processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly and quarterly revenue close process with accuracy and timeliness
- Ensure compliance with ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards
- Oversee revenue recognition policies and procedures across business lines
- Manage a team of accounting professionals with a focus on development and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, legal, and finance
- Identify and implement process improvements in revenue accounting systems
- Support internal and external audits with detailed documentation and analysis
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls over revenue processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial disclosures
- Partner with FP&A to provide accurate revenue forecasting inputs
- Evaluate contract terms for proper revenue treatment and timing
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving accounting standards
- Lead system enhancements and integrations related to revenue operations
- Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual accounting tasks
- Serve as a key point of contact for revenue-related inquiries from stakeholders
- Ensure data integrity across ERP and billing platforms
- Monitor key revenue metrics and trends for anomalies
- Escalate and resolve complex revenue accounting issues promptly
- Support SOX compliance efforts specific to revenue cycles
- Train and mentor team members on technical and procedural topics
- Prepare executive-level reporting on revenue performance and risks
- Manage external consultant relationships during audit or project work
- Stay aligned with legal and sales teams on contract structure implications
- Document accounting policies and maintain an updated revenue accounting manual
- Contribute to special projects related to revenue model changes
