Responsibilities
- Lead engagements for government and public sector clients, providing strategic tax advice and managing compliance projects.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders, mentor teams, and contribute to Deloitte’s thought leadership in the public sector indirect tax space.
- Work as part of a team of forward-thinking professionals with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our public sector clients generate cash saving refunds and solve their complex GST/HST issues from strategy to execution.
- Build and develop lasting relationships with our clients, being seen as a trusted advisor and assist them with their indirect tax needs.
- Lead client engagements, research and implementation of an ITC allocation methodology and section 211, user-fee reviews, managing tax audits and disputes, preparing advisory reports, letters, memoranda and presentations on complex topics.
- Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning while adopting the firm’s apprenticeship training model.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in indirect tax, with a strong focus on the public sector.
- Proven experience managing client engagements and leading project teams.
- Strong knowledge of the GST/HST legislation and public sector.
- Ability to travel to client sites will be required.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.

- A completed accounting designation (CPA) would be an asset.
