Braze is hiring a Senior Lead Systems Engineer, AI & Automation

Responsibilities

  • Create intelligent automation systems that simplify and optimize business processes across enterprise platforms.
  • Apply artificial intelligence, agent-based workflows, and modern integration methods to minimize manual work and boost productivity.
  • Develop scalable connections between platforms such as Slack, Okta, Workday, Atlassian, GitHub, Google Workspace, and other SaaS tools.
  • Construct APIs, middleware components, and event-driven processes to enable smooth employee interactions.
  • Improve how employees engage with IT by designing conversational interfaces and self-service tools that replace ticket-based systems and enhance service quality.
  • Design robust, scalable solutions that improve interoperability and coordination among enterprise platforms.
  • Assess architectural choices with a focus on long-term sustainability, adaptability, and operational excellence.
  • Test and deploy emerging AI technologies, large language models, MCP integrations, and agent frameworks while defining responsible usage practices.
  • Develop reusable automation frameworks and internal tools that speed up delivery and reduce maintenance effort.
  • Collaborate with Security, Compliance, and Infrastructure teams to ensure solutions meet governance standards while remaining scalable and simple.
  • Document system architectures, implementation choices, and operational procedures in line with compliance requirements.
  • Stay current with new technologies, integration methods, and AI developments to identify opportunities for improved scalability and automation.
  • Support the development of enterprise platform strategy and long-term technical planning.
  • Lead technically complex projects and guide engineers in automation, integration, and software engineering best practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience building enterprise-level integrations and automation in modern SaaS environments
  • Solid background in software engineering with proven work in APIs, integrations, automation, or platform services
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, TypeScript, or JavaScript
  • Hands-on experience with REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, SCIM, GraphQL, and current authentication protocols
  • Knowledge of enterprise systems like Okta, Workday, Slack, Atlassian, GitHub, Google Workspace, or equivalent SaaS platforms
  • Ability to design scalable architectures that align business needs with security and operational simplicity
  • Experience working across engineering, security, infrastructure, and business units to deliver effective technical solutions
  • Strong interest in using AI, automation, and software engineering to solve operational problems
  • Inquisitive, team-oriented mindset with a drive for continuous improvement and thoughtful system design

Nice to Have

  • Experience building AI agents, MCP integrations, LLM-driven workflows, or enterprise AI platforms
  • Familiarity with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, or cloud automation tools
  • Background in event-driven systems, message queues, or serverless architectures
  • Hands-on work integrating APIs from Workday, Okta, Atlassian Cloud, Slack Platform, GitHub Enterprise, or Google Workspace
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Experience creating internal developer platforms or enterprise integration frameworks
  • Experience supporting fast-growing SaaS companies with complex technology ecosystems
