AECOM is hiring a Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & System Design - Lead the design and technical development of control, automation, and instrumentation systems for industrial and infrastructure facilities.
  • Technical Leadership & System Design - Develop control philosophies, system architectures, I/O lists, logic diagrams, instrument datasheets, cause & effect matrices, and P&ID reviews.
  • Technical Leadership & System Design - Design and specify field instruments, control panels, marshalling cabinets, junction boxes, and system communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
  • Technical Leadership & System Design - Define project design strategies and ensure compliance with IEC, ISA, NFPA, ATEX, and client-specific standards.
  • Control & Automation Expertise - Provide expert input on PLC, DCS, and SCADA system design, programming, and integration.
  • Project & Client Management - Act as the technical lead for I&C engineering scopes within multidisciplinary projects.
  • Project & Client Management - Coordinate with process, electrical, and mechanical teams to ensure fully integrated control and instrumentation solutions.
  • Project & Client Management - Prepare and review technical documentation, functional specifications, and test procedures.
  • Project & Client Management - Support project managers with scheduling, budgeting, progress reporting, and resource allocation for I&C deliverables.
  • Project & Client Management - Oversee the integration of instrumentation layouts and cable routing within 3D plant models using Revit MEP or AutoCAD Plant 3D.
  • Project & Client Management - Participate in clash detection, interdisciplinary coordination, and digital model reviews.
  • Project & Client Management - Promote the use of CDE platforms (BIM 360, ACC, Aconex) for collaborative design and document control.
  • Construction, Testing & Commissioning Support - Provide senior-level site support for installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of I&C systems.
  • Construction, Testing & Commissioning Support - Review vendor drawings and respond to technical clarifications during construction.

Requirements

  • experienced and highly motivated Senior Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineer with a strong background in industrial automation, control systems, and process instrumentation
  • proven expertise in control system architecture, PLC/DCS/SCADA design, field instrumentation, and process automation, with a demonstrated ability to lead design teams, interface with clients and contractors, and ensure the successful delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects

Nice to Have

  • Proficiency in control system design hardware, 3D modeling (Revit, AutoCAD Plant 3D), and digital engineering tools (e.g., SmartPlant Instrumentation SPI)
