Responsibilities
- Create and sustain functional designs for AP1000 digital control systems and older analog control and protection systems.
- Generate and revise Functional Requirements and Functional Diagrams for the NSSS control system framework.
- Conduct transient operational analyses to verify I&C logic, setpoints, and overall plant behavior.
- Assess standard plant operating transients and suggest design or configuration adjustments to fix performance shortcomings.
- Examine low-temperature over-pressurization events and develop or maintain LTOPS setups to ensure proper safety response.
- Establish and update NSSS Design Transients for component qualification, incorporating plant modifications.
- Carry out setpoint uncertainty evaluations using the NRC-approved Westinghouse Setpoint Methodology for nuclear facilities.
- Perform statistical assessments of instrument drift to aid surveillance interval extensions and include findings in setpoint reviews.
- Estimate the extent, cost, and effects of design modifications impacting current systems.
- Assist project managers with planning and developing project timelines.
- Produce clear and technically sound reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage in regular mentorship and supervision reviews to track progress, training requirements, and technical proficiency.
- Complete additional tasks as directed by the SCS Supervisor.
